With a six-foot by twelve-foot island, sourcing the right countertop for the kitchen was critical. Our design team chose DEX Industries’ DEXterra featuring a grey concrete binder and quartz glass aggregates (terrazzo) for several reasons. The durability and heat resistance of terrazzo made this a choice material. Our designers were able to work directly with DEX to color match the existing paint selections and vary the size of the quarts glass aggregates to give a consistent look to the kitchen and call attention to the central island. Custom elements were also added, such as the built-in ice bucket in the form of a shallow sink in the center of the island. And finally, the DEXterra product is eco friendly utilizing post-consumer recycled glass collected locally from Atlanta restaurants and businesses.
